One of the most popular breakfast and lunch spots in San Diego’s Pacific Beach neighborhood can now be found in Arizona. Since 1979, from the prestigious, San Diego beach location, the Broken Yolk Café has built a strong reputation with loyal locals and has become a sought-for dining spot with vacationers as well. Broken Yolk Café’s popularity is a result of offering ample portions, great service and high-quality homemade breakfast and lunch food. For years, wait lines ran out the door on weekends causing passersby to stop in and give the restaurant a try.
“Once they tried us, they were generally hooked. We’re known for delicious, high-quality food and large portions,” says John Gelastopoulos, who owns the brand with his wife, Chris.
The famous Broken Yolk Café was a 2009 feature on The Travel Channel’s “Man vs Food,” which introduced the brand to millions of viewers outside of Southern California. The restaurant continued to maintain its reputation, attracting an ever-increasing following of satisfied diners.
In early 2015, the first Broken Yolk Cafe location in Arizona opened in Mesa. Local owners, Jim and Jennifer O’Neal are excited to bring this San Diego breakfast and lunch favorite to the Mesa community.
“Our primary focus will always be on serving high-quality, homemade food and giving each guest a great experience,” the O’Neals say.
Broken Yolk Cafe showcases traditional staples as well as one-of-a-kind signature dishes. Breakfast favorites include the Golden State Benedict, over 13 different omelets, including made-to-order varieties, Nutella Crepes, pancakes, waffles and French toast as well as endless mimosas. Breakfast items are available all day, or delicious lunch entrees are also available.
For lunch, Broken Yolk Café specializes in entrees like the Southwestern Chicken Wrap, homemade soups and salads.
The Broken Yolk Café satisfies even the heartiest of diners and offers a menu for hungry kids as well, and does so in a clean, comfortable and casual atmosphere.
