The Stand for the Family Community Fair, scheduled for Saturday, November 7, is designed to bring the community together for a fun, family-friendly afternoon of enjoyable activities and entertainment—all as a way to promote the role of the family and its importance as the fundamental unit of society.
“The fair is a fundraiser and an opportunity for families to enjoy time together while joining with other concerned citizens to make a difference and have their voices heard,” says Sharon Slater, president of Family Watch International.
Games, special costumed “guest” appearances, raffles, a silent auction, holiday shopping, and more offer fun for all ages. Among the most popular attractions are two huge air pillows, pedal carts, a giant slide and a corn maze. Twelve of the attractions will be free with paid admission and a dozen more are ticketed attractions (20 tickets for $10 or 50 for $20).
Live entertainment will be featured throughout the afternoon, and the food truck area will offer a variety of meals and desserts.
Families will also find opportunities to network and to learn about simple, but important, ways to get involved to preserve and promote traditional marriage, motherhood, fatherhood, family life, parental rights and religious freedom.
“It has never been easier for people to learn what they can do and then work together to build an essential and exciting movement to stand for the family,” Slater says.
“We wanted to do something powerful and impactful, something that would cause the community to rally together to demonstrate their beliefs and values, while having wholesome family fun. Hence the fair was born,” says fair chairman, Kathleen George.
She adds, “A good friend once said, ‘Think Globally, and Act Locally.’ We simply cannot move the Stand for the Family cause forward without getting involved locally and the time for action is long overdue.”
Slater agrees, saying, “In a world that has become increasingly hostile to marriage and the family, it will take the best efforts of all of us working together to stem the tide of family disintegration. There is strength in numbers, and together we can, and must, make a difference.”
Proceeds from the Stand for the Family Community Fair will support the work of Family Watch International, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 1999. Family Watch works at the United Nations and in countries around the world to educate the public and to affect policies and programs that will strengthen the family, serve the interest of children, and provide the best outcomes for men and women. Sponsors of the Stand for the Family Fair include Bashas’, AZ Local Magazine, Graphic Cargo Creative, American Leadership Academy, Hillcrest Academy, Freckle Farm, Creative Ice Cream, Queso Good Quesadilla Truck, Gill’s Grounds, Ralph’s, Valentino’s Eatery and Pizza Pie Cafe.
