Imagine there’s a water outage, yet you still have access to running water at your sinks, showers, toilets and washing machine. Impossible? Not anymore—Spero Systems WaterGuard is making it a reality.
Their 120- to 800-gallon tanks store, rotate and facilitate the flow of water for drinking, bathing, general hygiene, brushing teeth, taking medications, preparing food, rehydrating food storage, washing clothes and dishes, and cleaning.
The Spero Systems tank system is maintenance-free; whenever someone uses water in the home, they are in effect rotating it, refreshing the stored water every 24 – 48 hours.
Brother Joel Johnson, of the Lehi Stake, is the creator and developer of Spero Systems. He came up with a water usage system that isn’t just for so-called “doomsday preppers,” but for average Americans living in an unstable world that could produce water outages for any reason.
When choosing a name for the company, Johnson thought of “Spero” since it is Latin for “home.”
Johnson says, “Our water system is a common sense approach for our world today, especially with our aging infrastructure.”
“One of the goals is to eliminate maintenance. Second, food storage, including freeze dried food, needs water. With Spero Water System, there isn’t a need to pull your water from a barrel. This system puts the water back into the house, running from all of your water sources, and helps you keep your same standard of living,” says Johnson.
According to FEMA, every household should have a two-week supply of water for each family member.
Johnson says, “Every day our nation’s water supply is vulnerable to contamination, natural disasters, terrorist attacks, infrastructure failure, and pandemics, just to name a few.”
“Any type of water outage is hard on family members, and especially difficult on kids and the elderly. But if you have the Spero Water System, you have fresh water. If the water source is cut off for any reason, your WaterGuard patented re-pressurized system provides running water to your whole house automatically,” he says.
Johnson and his family tested and lived on the system for two days. All their water came from the storage tank.
“It was very peaceful [knowing] that I could jump in the shower, clothes could be in the wash, dishwasher running, and all was well. This is the purpose for the system. Your standard of living remains uninterrupted.”
The system is available in Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Virginia, Louisiana, Kansas, Colorado, Texas and California. “We are working our way to national recognition of our brand,” says Johnson.
