Jill B. Adair, Head Staff Writer
Jill Bishop Adair has written for The Beehive since 1997; covering news and human interest stories and her LDS Cyber Surfing column focuses on LDS Web sites.
Jill dreamed of being a reporter from her earliest memories, following her grandma who wrote for a small-town Kansas newspaper. Jill was born in Tallahassee, Florida, and moved to Mesa in 1970. In school she jumped at opportunities to write; working on her junior high newspaper and on the yearbook staff at Mesa High.
Thanks to wonderful friends who shared the gospel, she took the missionary discussions, read The Book of Mormon, and was baptized after graduating from high school.
Jill attended ASU on an academic scholarship, where she earned a Journalism degree. She had an internship for The Mesa Tribune and worked as a reporter there until she decided to quit to be a stay-at-home mom. Since then Jill has written from home.
Jill has three children: Clint, 22; Krystal, 19; and Justin, 15. She and her husband, Scott, have worked together for many years on stories; she writes the article and he takes the photos.
Jill was a staff writer for the Latter-Day Sentinel, publicity director for the Mesa Easter Pageant, has written several articles for Church magazines, and taught after-school writing classes.
Jill has been covering Arizona news as a correspondent for The Church News since 1990. A highlight was that she and her husband were able to cover President Hinckley’s dedication of the Snowflake Temple in 2002.
Jill served as ward Relief Society president and ward and stake Young Women president in the Mesa Kimball East Stake. She currently enjoys working with the young women in her ward. Jill loves meeting new people and interviewing them and is sure that everyone has a story.
