Rockin’ R Ranch Opens Day and Overnight Camping Areas for Scouting and Family Activities
East Mesa’s Rockin’ R Ranch has long been a popular destination for family-friendly entertainment and chuckwagon-style dinner shows. Now, the “Outback” provides an area for family reunions, day camps and Scout outings as well.
The historic ranch is known to millions throughout the world, as audiences and individuals have enjoyed the music of the Rockin’ R Wranglers, either at dinner shows or via television, CDs or DVDs. In fact, owners “Big Jim” and “Sweet Mary” Robson helped produce the pre-game show for Superbowl XXX, in which the Rockin’ R Wranglers appeared with the Doobie Brothers. In addition, hundreds of thousands of children and adults have enjoyed fieldtrips to the Ranch.
Now, “Big Jim” and “Sweet Mary” have created something new at the back of the Ranch. “The Outback” can host Cub Scout, Girl Scout and Boy Scout campouts, day camps and merit badge events and is also available for family reunions, leadership getaways and other group events. The area has hills, trees, streams, waterfalls and ponds stocked with large fish. There are13 camp spots, firepits and archery and BB gun ranges.
In addition, those using the Outback facilities can have access to the Rockin’ R Ranch buildings, for crafts, lessons or other indoor activities.
“We will also offer a significantly discounted price to the show for those using the Outback area,” Big Jim says.
He adds, “We wanted to create an amazing place where adults and kids could come to experience nature and advance in Scouting, where leaders and parents didn’t have to spend hundreds of dollars to leave work and buy gas to get somewhere up in the mountains.”
“There’s nothing like it in the world,” he says.
Rockin’ R Ranch is located at 6060 E. Baseline in Mesa. For a tour or reservations, call 480-964-8147.
