Arizona Big Train Operations Open backyard railroads for annual Christmas tour

This Arizona Big Train Operators (ABTO) 2013 Christmas Open House and Tours is an annual event that is fun for “kids of all ages.” The public is invited to see the backyard G-scale railroads in action at 13 ABTO members’ homes as well as the indoor train layout at the Cardon Children’s Medical Center.

The railroads are located around the Phoenix area and will be open from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., some on Friday and Saturday, others on Saturday and Sunday, December 6, 7 and 8 and December 13, 14 and 15. For exact dates and details, including a printable timetable and maps to the locations, visit the ABTO website at azbigtrains.org. The site includes a number of pictures showing details of the layouts that will be open during the open house tour.

While admission is free, voluntary donations will be accepted at each layout. The donations are used to support ABTO activity throughout the Valley, particularly the maintenance of the train layouts at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Cardon Children’s Medical Center.
