“Time is running out. She’s running scared. He’ll run into danger to save her,” sums up the essence of Time Twist, by Arizona author Jeanie R. Davis.
Davis takes readers on a romantic adventure with mystery and danger that takes place back and forth between nineteenth century England and present-day Colorado. It is a sweet—a writer’s term for clean—romance.
“Throw in some romance, paranormal activity, and time travel and you end up with something quite unique. I mean, have you ever heard of a humdrum relationship between a gallant, British gentleman (from two hundred years go) and a spunky interior decorator from modern America? I think not,” says Davis.
Speaking of the two main characters in Time Twist, the author says, “I was
joking around with my daughters about writing a book that included everything I know (a very short list). I studied interior decorating, so that gave me Arianna’s occupation, and I love Regency Era romance novels, which gave me Christopher. Admittedly, I know very little about time travel. Readers will just have to take my word on its authenticity.”
The book is filled with twists and turns that draw the reader in, such as this passage: “Christopher was certain his father had been using his device to travel back in time, committing more crimes to increase his fortune. Criminals such as his father were never satisfied—the desire for money ever fulfilled, the thirst for power never quenched and the urge to spill blood never quelled.”
The romance between Arianna and Christopher is palpable: “He moved closer and ran feather-light fingers up her neck. “Arianna,” he gently lifted her face and gazed into her eyes. Tingles ran up and down her spine, warming her all over. His velvety-smooth voice gave her goosebumps.”
She didn’t respond, just looked into his intense, blue eyes.
“Arianna, he said again, in a near whisper. “You are so beautiful. How did I get so lucky to spend the evening with the prettiest girl in Colorado?” His gaze dropped to her lips.
Time Twist is the first book in the Somerset Series. The second book, Time Trap, will be available later this year.
