“The office has an all-sports theme. It’s one of the best-looking pediatric clinics you’ll ever see,” says Dr. Steven Mousser, who opened the clinic in 2011.
Yet, he adds, while creating a “memorable and pleasant experience with each visit,” the clinic’s highly professional staff is committed to providing young patients with the utmost in professional care as well.
Dr. Mousser did his undergraduate work at Brigham Young University, graduated from the University of Arizona Medical School, then completed his residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix. After co-founding Desert Pediatric Hospitalists, one of the state’s largest pediatric hospitalist practices, as well as the first child-only urgent care services, Dr. Mousser chose to return to office practice in 2011. He wanted, most of all, to create a setting where he could combine his broad range of experience and expertise, with his interest in caring for children.
The clinic’s style sparked rapid growth and, a year after its opening, All-Star Pediatrics welcomed a second pediatrician, Steven Milius, DO. Born and raised in Mesa, Dr. Milius did his undergraduate work at Arizona State University, then attended medical school in Chicago, Ill. With Dr. Mousser, Dr. Milius worked at Desert Pediatric Hospitalists for several years before choosing to join All-Star Pediatrics.
“I liked the idea of taking care of families and providing more continuity of care for people,” Dr. Milius says.
He says in addition to the fun setting, parents like the small, two-doctor office.
“We try to take care of our patients at a personal level and really get to know them,” Dr. Milius says.
He adds, “We take care of kids at every age. We have a slogan that we treat everyone ‘from birth to mission’ age.”
“Most of what we do is ‘healthy stuff,’” Dr. Mousser explains. “A good portion of the time we are monitoring growth and development and educating parents about the right way to help their children grow up to be strong and healthy.”
“At well visits, we talk about choices of foods, exercise and other things that can keep kids healthy,” Dr. Mousser says.
While helping parents establish healthy lifestyle habits, they are also vigilant about their patients’ health, always watching to make sure nothing is amiss.
Dr. Mousser and his wife, Becky, have four daughters; Dr. Milius and his wife, Courtney, have five children, three boys and two girls.
